The Sub-Committee on the Media (Committee on Culture, Science and Education) meeting in Strasbourg on 27 September 2001 with Mrs Isohookana-Asunmaa in the chair:

- held an exchange of views with Mr Freimut Duve, OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media, on the current media situation in Europe and in different member states;

- took note of the letters that the General Rapporteur on Media Questions had sent to the Chairmen of the delegations of Azerbaijan, Russia and Ukraine expressing concern about recent media developments;

- heard a statement by Mrs Milotinova about planned amendments to the Bulgarian Law on Radio and Television;

- discussed its work programme;

- left it to its Chairperson to decide on the date and place of its next meeting
