The Committee on Equal Opportunities for Women and Men, meeting in Paris on 7 March 2001 with Mrs Aguiar (Portugal, EPP/CD) in the Chair, as regards: 

-                     Female genital mutilation (Rapporteur: Mrs Vermot-Mangold, Switzerland, SOC): considered a draft report and a preliminary draft resolution and decided to adopt it at its next meeting;

-                     Hearing on the situation of Maghrebi women in Europe: held an exchange of views with parliamentarians, associations and NGOs from Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia;

-                     Migration connected with trafficking in women and prostitution: held an exchange of views on the basis of Recommendation 1489 (2001) and considered a motion of a resolution;

-                     Hearing on Trafficking in women (rapporteur: Mrs Err, Luxembourg, SOC): considered a memorandum for the hearing to be held on 2 April 2001 in Paris;

-                     The right to family life for migrants and refugees : appointed Mrs Poptodorova (Bulgaria, SOC) as rapporteur for an oral opinion ;

-                     Hearing on women and new methods of assisted conception organised by the National Assembly (Paris, 5 April 2001): appointed Mrs Zwerver (Netherlands, SOC) to attend it;

-           Work programme: held an exchange of views;

-                      its next meetings, decided to meet as follows :

ˇ           Paris, Monday 2 April 2001 (Council of Europe Office) followed by a hearing on trafficking in women;

ˇ           Strasbourg, during the Assembly 2001 second part-session (23-27 April);

ˇ           Istanbul, during the Spring session of the Assembly (21-23 May 2001).

 

The Sub-Committee on violence towards women meeting in Paris on 7 March 2001 with Mrs Aguiar (Portugal, EPP/CD) senior member present, and then Mrs Dromberg (Finland, EDG) in the Chair:

-           elected Mrs Dromberg (Finland, EDG) Chairperson by acclamation;

-           elected Mrs López-González (Spain, SOC) Vice-Chairperson by acclamation;

 

The Sub-Committee on women and the new technologies meeting in Paris on 7 march 2001 with Mrs Aguiar (Portugal, EPP/CD), senior member present, and then Mrs Poptodorova (Bulgaria, SOC) in the Chair:

-           elected Mrs Poptodorova (Bulgaria, SOC) Chairperson by acclamation;

-           elected Mr Neuwirth (France, EDG) Vice-Chairperson by acclamation;
