            The Committee on the Honouring of Obligations and Commitments by Member States of the Council of Europe, meeting in Strasbourg on 26 September 2000 with Mr Mota Amaral in the Chair:

-                  Croatia (co-rapporteurs: Mr Jaskiernia, Poland, SOC, and Ms Stoyanova, Bulgaria, EPP/CD): took note that no amendments were tabled to the draft resolution and recommendation to be debated by the Assembly (Doc. 8823);

-           Russia (co-rapporteurs: Mr Atkinson, United Kingdom, EDG, and Mr Bindig, Germany, SOC): heard a statement by members of the delegation of the Assembly which went to Znamenskoye and Moscow from 18 to 21 September last and approved an amendment to the draft resolution on the conflict in the Chechen Republic;

-           Latvia ( co-rapporteurs: Mr Davis, United Kingdom, SOC, and Mr Jansson, Finland, LDR): received the English text of the regulatory acts of the State Language Law and authorised the co-rapporteurs to make a fact-finding visit to the Hague in order to meet Mr Van der Stoel, OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities, and to Riga from 23 to 26 November 2000;

-            Moldova (co-rapporteurs: Mrs Durrieu, France, SOC, and Mr Moreels, Belgium, EPP/CD): heard a statement by Mr Nedelciuc on the current situation in Moldova, asked the co-rapporteurs to include in their report the subject of the motion for a recommendation resolving the Transnistrian conflict which the Bureau had referred to it and to make a fact-finding visit in the country as soon as possible with a view to finalising their report;

-                  decided to hold its next meetings in Tallinn in October 2000, subject to authorisation by the Bureau.
