Reply to Recommendation: Recommendation 1902 (2010)

1. The Committee of Ministers has carefully examined Parliamentary Assembly Recommendation 1902 (2010) on “The functioning of democratic institutions in Albania” and has followed closely the developments in the country since the adoption of this recommendation. In this respect, the Committee of Ministers acknowledges the renewed dialogue between the political forces following facilitation efforts by the Parliamentary Assembly and the European Union. It welcomes the return of the opposition to parliament and underlines the importance of a continuous and genuine participation in its work. It encourages all parties to co-operate with a view to achieving electoral reform, which is an essential contribution to solving their political divergences. In light of the above, the Committee of Ministers will continue to follow closely developments in Albania and will adopt a final reply at one of its forthcoming meetings.
