More women in economic and social decision-making bodies

1. The Parliamentary Assembly welcomes the resolve of the Ministers responsible for Equality between Women and Men meeting at the 7th Council of Europe Ministerial Conference (Baku, 24 and 25 May 2010) and the adoption of the Action Plan “Taking up the Challenge of the Achievement of de jure and de facto Gender Equality”.
2. Referring to its Resolution 1825 (2011) on more women in economic and social decision-making bodies, the Assembly invites the Committee of Ministers to pursue and develop its efforts to:
2.1. implement the Action Plan “Taking up the Challenge of the Achievement of de jure and de facto Gender Equality”;
2.2. analyse and gather statistics, particularly concerning the position of women in economic and social life;
2.3. highlight best national practices;
2.4. establish qualitative indicators of women’s participation in economic and social decision-making bodies.
3. In the context of the implementation of the Baku Action Plan, the Assembly asks the Committee of Ministers to address two recommendations to member states, one on ensuring equal opportunities for women and men in access to employment and promotions, and the other on equal opportunities and the reconciliation of private and professional life.
