Compatibility of Sharia law with the European Convention on Human Rights: can States Parties to the Convention be signatories to the “Cairo Declaration”?
In the draft resolution, delete paragraph 12.3.
Explanatory note
The Declaration should be regarded as a starting step to improve human rights, not as a binding contract. Article 90 of the Turkish Constitution states that the convention is a superior source of obligatory binding norms.
