Motion for a resolution | Doc. 15052 | 29 January 2020
Condemnation of antisemitism and of the goals of the BDS-Movement
A survey of around 16 500 Jewish Europeans in 12 European countries carried out in May and June 2018 by the European Agency for Fundamental Rights has yielded highly alarming results: nine out of ten respondents said that antisemitism has increased and one third therefore considers the option of emigration. Furthermore the BDS movement (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) which calls for a boycott of the Jewish State, of Israeli products and companies, artists, scientists, as well as athletes started activities in several European countries.
The Parliamentary Assembly should therefore prepare a report to demand national governments and all relevant State actors to:
- develop a holistic strategy to prevent and combat all forms of antisemitism as part of national strategies to prevent racism, xenophobia, radicalisation and violent extremism by closely involving all relevant actors;
- condemn the goals of the BDS movement;
- refrain from providing premises and infrastructure to organisations and associations that make antisemitic statements or that question the right of existence of Israel.
