In the draft resolution, after paragraph 8.6, insert the following paragraph:
"facilitate the processing of complaints lodged against such politicians and political leaders, particularly by lifting any immunity connected with their office;"
Explanatory Note :
Electoral mandates require behaviour beyond reproach. Any elected representative who might hold discriminatory or homophobic views must be held to account for these views, and organisations defending human rights must be able to take them to court, with the assistance of the relevant State institutions.
